New package gives customers a more aggressive offering.

by on Feb.07, 2019

Cadillac expands the XT5 portfolio with the new Sport package offering buyers a more aggressive looking crossover.

Cadillac continues to play catch up when it comes to its crossover line-up with the debut of its new XT5 Sport package at the Chicago Auto Show.

General Motors luxury brand had been late to the party when it came to luxury utes smaller than the its class-leading Escalade. However, it’s certainly been trying to make up for lost time since it put its plans in place to compete in the segment.

Product News!

The new XT5 Sport arrives on the heels of brand’s recently introduced XT4 small ute that has quickly become a strong seller for Cadillac. However, the XT5 Sport fills a need for an aggressive-looking model that competitors like Lexus, BMW and others have been offering. (more…)

Toyota Adding a Little Spark to Chicago Show with TRD Pro Tease

Automaker not revealing much with latest clue.

by on Feb.05, 2019

Toyota offered up a bit a teaser for its new TRD Pro offering. It didn't say what vehicle will be getting the package or if it was a separate vehicle entirely.

Toyota was already preparing to show off its updated 2020 Tacoma at this year’s Chicago Auto Show. However, the automaker also has a surprise up its sleeve for Windy City attendees this year.

The company released a teaser video and image today touting a new “TRD Pro off-road beast” that will make its debut in Chicago. This new vehicle will lead “the charge for a host of updates across the TRD Pro line-up,” the company said in a statement.

Auto Show News!

Nothing further is offered leaving so many options open. Will the Tacoma be getting a new TRD treatment? Is Toyota creating a separate TRD Pro vehicle not currently in the line-up? The picture is of no real help. (more…)

Audi, Toyota Proclaimed Big Super Bowl Ad Winners

GM riled up by Unifor's protest commercial.

by on Feb.04, 2019

Audi's "Cashew" commercial during last night's Super Bowl generated huge traffic to the company's website: more than any other automaker's ad.

Last night’s Super Bowl may not have been the most impressive display of football ever, but as New England Patriots QB Tom Brady sought his sixth ring, automakers sought those less interested in Brady’s quest and more compelled by the commercials between drives.

While the automakers may or may not have lived up to expectations, it’s a commercial unseen by most viewers that may have had the biggest impact.

According to Edmunds.com, joining Brady and the Patriots on the winners podium last night were Audi and Toyota. Edmunds analysts tracked traffic to brand and model pages on both its desktop and mobile sites during the game to see which automotive ads were most successful in driving immediate shopper interest. Infiniti Charges into Detroit With QX Inspiration Battery-Car Concept

This could be “a direct blueprint” for the first pure-electric Infiniti.

by on Jan.14, 2019

Infiniti revealed the all-electric QX Inspiration concept at the 2019 NAIAS on Jan. 14.

It’s been nearly a decade since Infiniti first promised to bring a battery-electric vehicle into its line-up, the automaker quickly deciding not to go with a gussied-up version of the decidedly down-market Leaf sold by parent brand Nissan.

With Infiniti now trying to plug back in and promising that it will electrify virtually everything in its line-up by 2021, you can expect to get a good idea of what’s coming with the QX Inspiration Concept making its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

News You Can Trust!

“The Infiniti QX Inspiration marks the beginning of a new generation of Infiniti cars and establishes a direct blueprint for the brand’s first electric vehicle,” said Christian Meunier, the luxury brand’s new president and chairman. “Based on a new, dedicated electric vehicle architecture and inspired by Infiniti’s Japanese DNA, the SUV concept previews a product portfolio which will offer high performance, ultra-low emissions and range confidence.” (more…)

Nissan Hopes To Electrify With Debut of IMs Concept

Detroit show car hints at expanded line-up of battery-electric vehicles.

by on Jan.14, 2019

Nissan's IMs concept hits the Detroit Auto Show just after the company rolled out its longest-range Leaf ever.

Barely a week after unveiling the latest – and first truly long-range – version of its Leaf battery-electric vehicle, Nissan is offering a glimpse at where it is “imagining” its future in the form of the all-electric IMs “elevated sports sedan.”

The concept vehicle debuting at the North American International Auto Show pushes the envelope when it comes to three key trends: the shift from sedans and coupes to SUVs and CUVs. It also features a pure BEV drivetrain, a technology Nissan promises will dominate its line-up moving forward. The show car also adds autonomous driving capabilities. Add them together and, Nissan suggests, its future models will feature a distinctly different approach to design, as well.

News Now!

“Advances in electric vehicle technology and autonomous driving have allowed our designers to break free of the platform and packaging rules that constrain traditional passenger vehicles, to create a completely new type of car,” said Alfonso Albaisa, senior vice president for design at Nissan. “The IMs explores the limits of sedan design with an approach that elevates the category in both look and functionality.” (more…)

Downsized Detroit Auto Show Still Has Some Big Debuts

SUVs, CUVs, even a few sedans and coupes.

by on Jan.13, 2019

The North American International Auto Show will host scads of new vehicle debuts in January for the last time as it moves to June for 2020.

The North American International Auto Show is set to make its last winter run. No, NAIAS isn’t going away. It’s just moving to June in 2020, a definite relief for those who’ve had to trudge down to the Detroit riverfront for the annual event since it went “international” 30 years ago.

The show is a fair bit downsized from its glory days when as many as 70 new products debuted during three packed days of press previews. That said, this year’s event still has some significant, headline-making vehicles set to make a first appearance.

Byton M-Byte’s Videoscreen Will Be as Large as Seven I-Pads, Support a Very Different Business Model

Battery-car to “become the most important digital device in your life.”

by on Jan.07, 2019

The 48-inch display in the Byton M-byte will control most of its functions - and more.

At first glance, the Byton M-Byte looks a lot like other new battery-electric vehicles coming to market these days. It’s when you slip inside the SUV that you notice the big difference. Really big, as in a 48-inch videoscreen atop the instrument panel that stretches the full length of the windshield.

The screen can simultaneously display a virtual instrument cluster, navigation information, notes on the music you’re listening to – and still have plenty of room left over for a movie or TV show to entertain passengers. And that’s a key part of Byton’s business strategy.

Auto Show News!

“Our business model will not just be about selling cars, but using the car as a platform,” CEO Carsten Breitfeld said in an impromptu interview with bingdb.info following a news conference at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. “In the future, we will make more money selling digital content and shared mobility.”

Big cash incentives, discounted interest rates may equal a good buy.

by on Dec.21, 2018

If you still want a new vehicle during the holidays, some of those big red bows may still be available.

Plenty of automotive experts are predicting that new vehicle sales this year will unexpectedly surpass last year’s results. Part of that is the flurry of activity they’re expecting this month, including the week between Christmas and New Year.

Auto dealers are often busiest at this time of year as they try to squeeze out the last of the new 2018 models and automakers are working to help them with an uptick in incentives and discount financing to entice new buyers to make one more holiday purchase.

Business News!
